Round 2 – Season 2023
The sun was out and it was perfect conditions for lots of eager hockey players.
Under 9 – Redlegs vs Kingston/Lucindale
With the sun out and perfect hockey conditions there were lots of eager U9s ready to hit the field on Saturday.
KL Rangers and Redlegs were ready to go early so they decided to go back to back 2 weeks in a row and play each other again. With two even teams there were many great passes and lots of talking on the field.
Redlegs broke early scoring the first goal with fast legs running down with the ball to make the score. There was great defending by KL Rangers, holding off any more goals until the second half.
It was great to see lots of movement on the field, good use of all players and lots of calling for the ball. Was a great game by both teams. Well done Redlegs and KL Rangers.
On the other field we had Dartmoor and Greenbottles. Not many on the field today, but what they lacked in numbers made up in enthusiasm. They were all getting into the game, utilising all players with some great dribbling, trapping the ball and team work. Great game Greens and Darts!
Redlegs vs Kingston/Lucindale – Under 13
The opening game for the day was set to be a great matchup and certainly did not disappoint the spectators who came out early to watch.
Both teams seemed evenly matched with the game working back and forth trying to find the goals. Seth Gale managed to find them just before quarter time to send the Redlegs team back to the dugout full of energy.
Kingston/Lucindale managed to respond almost immediately when the second quarter started with Sarah Johns running in a quick goal to even things up.
The rest of the game was a real arm wrestle with both teams making solid runs but both sets of defenders just weren’t having it.
It wasn’t until late in the last quarter that Henry Kitto got onto the end of a great team run from Redlegs to snatch the lead back and the confidence it gave the team was enough to open the game up for Seth to get his second goal and Redlegs to come away with the win.

Play started with Redlegs pushing forward, with most of the play, but Rangers defence held up fantastically, denying Redlegs the chance of a shot on goal.
Redlegs finally pushed to be awarded a penalty corner, only to still be denied by the Rangers. Rangers pushed through the midfield for their own opportunities, and after numerous efforts were finally able to penetrate to put the first score on the board.
Redlegs again attempted to strike back, with plenty of short passing play in their half, only to be denied again by the Rangers.
