Round 7 – Season 2024
In a demonstration of good sportsmanship, players and spectators alike celebrated each team’s successes regardless of their alliance.
Under 9
U9’s saw a great turn out this week with four matches being played. Greenbottles played Dartmoor and Redlegs, and all teams continue to improve each week.
With the restructure of the teams into five aside at half time, the field opened up and generated a higher standard game with more space and better passing.
Greenbottles White faced Greenbottles Green in a friendly yet competitive match. White dominated the first half, and Eliza Withers, helped by Lottie Legoe and Ethan Hage, was able to slip a ball past brave volunteer goalie Eliza Norcock.
Alice Fry and Harrison Andrews cleared the ball well to Jada Copping who ran swiftly into space where Elle Copping was well-positioned. White’s Cam Herrod, Annabel Menzel and Toby Holden-Young held up play well. However, the second half saw Green take control.
Green’s Angus McGregor slipped a few clever balls across goals to fellow fullback Elsie Ashby to clear out wide. Madeleine McGregor also moved the ball effectively out to eager players Jock Redman, Henry Evans and Camilla Kidman.
Henry Fry, with support from Lachie Withers and Winnie Schinckel, constantly drove the ball forward to Hilary Schinckel on the post. Harriet Waters sealed the draw with a well-placed goal past White’s budding goalie Sebastian Holden-Young.
In an enriching demonstration of good sportsmanship, players and spectating parents alike celebrated each team’s successes regardless of their alliance.

Greenbottles vs Tatiara – Under 16
Tatiara started the game with great structure quickly pushing the ball into their attacking zone. U13 Greenbottles Green goalie Sebastian Holden-Young made a brave debut fending off multiple shots until Tatiara’s Hannah Harkness was able to get one through. Fast play in the second quarter from Greens midfielders resulted in a goal off Jada Copping’s stick.
The tussle continued after halftime with Tatiara getting a quick score from Michael Darbyshire. In the last quarter, Greens dominated possession and Tatiara were unable to get it back into their own half. Despite repeated attack on goals by Henry Fry, Eliza Withers and Jada Copping, Greenbottles were blocked by an unstoppable goalkeeper.

Greenbottles vs Tatiara- Women
Greenbottles and Tatiara women copped the icy-cold 8pm game on Friday night. Greenbottles started strong with some great runs through the centre by Madi Derrington but Tatiara’s defence consistently proved too solid.
Tatiara’s Holly Pietsch and Sigourney Williams stood out as they kept the ball in their forward line with Williams having some cracking shots at goal. Greenbottles’ goalie Aimee Mastrangelo protected the goals with her karate senses and quick reflexes.
Eventually Tatiara’s Georgia Gherardin in perfect position got the goal they were looking for. Greenbottles pushed back with Jada Copping, Lucy Possingham and Anna Young carrying the ball forward and forcing some short corners but Tatiara proved too strong.
Despite Leisha Munro and Phoebe Yates playing exceptional games in full back for Greenbottles, Belinda Taylor was able to slot the second goal in for Tatiara, sealing the game in the last quarter. In a great game, both teams ran hard and demonstrated excellent skills.

Greenbottles vs Tatiara – Men
A depleted Tatiara team took on Greenbottles who had lost its last three matches in a row. Both teams were needing to dig deep for an important Friday night win.
Trent Waters surprised Tatiara’s defence early with a masterful slap hit into the corner of the goals. Tatiara fought back with two goals in quick succession to take back the lead. The game became an arm wrestle but Henry Boord and Cameron Taylor were both able to get through Tatiara’s backline and score.
