Round 15 – Season 2024
Under 9
The kids took to the field in misty conditions Saturday morning. Two of the Rangers players arriving just as the whistle was being blown and their youngest player not being able to make the game.
Kingston/Lucindale Rangers Madeline Taylor and Archie Loechel volunteering to team up as our full backs this week after Madeline having her debut last week in the back line and enjoying blocking goals.
Rangers were using some talk through the field while trying to move the ball forward. Monique Lewis for Dartmoor seemed to be everywhere that the ball was throughout the game. Rangers Jade Taylor showed her improved skills scoring 3 goals after her team mates worked well together to get the ball into the goal area.
Young Archie showing his diversity moving up to play the entire field while a team mate went off to get a much needed drink. All players for both teams had a great game to finish off their rounds with an evenly matched game. All kids showing improvement in their skills.
During this year’s under 9 competition we have seen lots of great improvements in all clubs. There has been some really good hockey skills shown in the second half of the season showing that the kids are gaining confidence on the field and improving their skills. We wish all the kids that are moving up into the under 13 competition next year all the best and hope they continue to enjoy their game of hockey.
Thank you to all the coaches, umpires and helpers for putting in your time ensuring the kids enjoy the game of hockey.
Kingston/Lucindale vs Greenbottles Green – Under 13
Today we played our last minor round against Greenbottles Green.
Unfortunately things didn’t go our way for Kingston/Lucindale today with Greenbottles taking the win 3 nil.
Both teams played very well throughout the game, making great passes and some very good defending.
Greenbottles took charge early into the first quarter with some great scoring shots from Henry Fry who scored 2 goals. Harriet also found the goals with a nice hit from top off the circle.
John from Kingston/Lucindale had a great game in goals today and had many great saves, he should be proud of himself as he shows great determination.
Kingston/Lucindale tried really hard but couldn’t out run a very experienced Greenbottles team. We had our chances in the 3rd quarter but just couldn’t find the goals.
It’s great to see the U/9’s stepping up each week and the improvements are really starting to show from these kids as they are not afraid to get in there and tackle.
Well done to everyone on a great season.

Out to prove a point after the previous encounter with Kingston/Lucindale Rangers, Greenbottles came out strong. Their veteran Gavin Boord struck early with a moment of brilliance, snaking one past the keeper.
This sparked some heavy attack from the Rangers who had many opportunities to score but could not capitalise. Henry Fry looked dangerous for Greens, with the young legs running rings around the Kingston/Lucindale defence.
