WOW!
What a way to start 2025 hockey season! It what was extremely warm conditions for hockey. Grass was looking fantastic around the turf thanks to Gav Boord, wonderful to see Karryn Meulders back in the canteen with some awesome home made meals. Might be some sore and tired bodies the day after, not to mentioned sunburned, but I am sure the seniors appreciated the cool change coming in mid afternoon.
U13 Results – Dartmoor 6 def Kingston/Lucindale 0

Dartmoor vs Kingston/Lucindale – Under 13
A very inexperienced and young Kingston/Lucindale side took on a very experienced Dartmoor team. Dartmoor got off to a flyer and scored the first goal in 30 seconds and the next one not long after with Eddie Dolphin and Nate Harris working well together.
Not sure what new Kingston/Lucindale coach, Jen Ellis, said to them at quarter time but for the next 2 quarters Kingston/Lucindale kept Darts scoreless. John Clothier was sublime in goals (obviously takes after his father and Nanna) and then his sister Rebecca helped clear the ball away from the circle.
Fresh out of U/9’s Evelyn Loechel was used well out on the wing and Ella Flores never gave up in her new half back position. Little pocket rocket Archie Loechel was everywhere and fought for every ball that was coming his way.
In the last quarter the little Kingston/Lucindale kids just ran out of puff and Dartmoor were able to finish the game off with a 6-0 win.
Great sportsmanship was shown by the Dartmoor team towards the little kids, and despite the score line Kingston/Lucindale never dropped their heads. Well done everyone on surviving the first week.

Kingston/Lucindale vs Dartmoor – Men
The first round of hockey for the season saw the Kingston/Lucindale men line up against Dartmoor. Both teams took to the field with enthusiasm finding their feet quickly.
The first quarter saw Dartmoor score early getting the first goal of the match. After multiple short corner attacks from Kingston/Lucindale and Dartmoor defending hard with their quick counter attacks K/L eventually executed getting their first goal for the match.
The second quarter saw both teams engage in plenty of attacking and defending with neither team letting up. Jack Thompson from Darts scoring another quick goal from a short corner in the quarter leaving the score 2 – 0 at half time.
The second half of the game was quick paced with K/L getting a quick goal at the start of the third quarter following up with another one deflected in towards the end of the quarter.
The final quarter saw Darts fight back hard to get even with both teams making several attempts at gaining a short corner. The game ended with K/L getting the final short corner of the match resulting in a penalty flick. Craig Smith stepped up to face Chris Marshall for the flick with Craig scoring the final goal for K/L finishing the game 4-2.
