Round 14 – Season 2023
Perfect conditions for Saturday morning hockey.
Greenbottles vs Dartmoor – Under 13
With a top of the table clash and bragging rights leading into the finals it was shaping up to be a great contest between Dartmoor and Greenbottles on Saturday.
The grey clouds came in and it started to rain but that did nothing to dampen the spirits of all players. Despite the weather, it was a fast start with both teams getting out of the blocks quickly. The first quarter finished even but Dartmoor had the momentum.
Once the rain had cleared early into the second quarter, Dartmoor showed their quality all around the pitch with fast ball movement and a lot of circle penetrations. The defence for Greenbottles was working overtime to keep them at bay. With very few opportunities going forward for Greens it was only a matter of time before Dartmoor would score.
This continued throughout the second half with Dartmoor having most of the goal mouth opportunities. Greens were continuing to work hard to keep them out, but Dartmoor were too strong on the day and eventually went home with the chocolates with a 3-0 Victory.

Redlegs vs Greenbottles – Under 16
Greenbottles and Redlegs both came out hard in the first quarter. With attempts for an attack, Greenbottles came out successful, applying hard pressure to the young Redlegs defence.
Excellent work through the right side of Harvey Zerk & Eliza Withers pushed a few short corners. After Greens was unable to convert from these, Toby Boord took matters into his own hands putting a hit into the corner.
As the game continued Greenbottles continued to show that they wanted a win with dedicated forwards Ethan Hage & Henry Fry working together nicely. However, Toby Boord put himself on the board again with a second.
Redlegs’ Seth Gale challenged the solid defence of Phoebe Yates & Harrison Andrews, but both youngsters were too strong for his pursuit. Toby Boord gave himself another for his tally, with Will Legoe following his scoring with a shot in the net.
As Redlegs got desperate to at least get a score, Corrie Taylor quickly shut them down with powerful slap shots, one even resulting in her own goal. Henry Fry just slid his spot on the scoreboard, cherry picking a hit from Tillie Derrington.
As Greens began to pull away, Seth Gale gave Redlegs one last hurrah for a score, putting one narrowly through Jack Hutchesson’s legs.
Greens response to this little slip up came in the form of Toby Boord’s 4th goal for the game, closing the game in a 7-1 win to Greens.
