Tatiara vs Greenbottles – Women
In a game to set the precedent for the finals next week, both teams had a lot to prove.
Olivia Williams for Tatiara was first to score with a good hit off a penalty corner. Greenbottles Shannan Derrington making Tatiara work hard to get any success going forward, until Amy Hunt (Tatiara) drove the ball into the back of the net.
Greenbottles found some success running the ball down the field, but were swiftly shut down by Sigourney Williams (Tatiara).
Sarah Hamilton for Greenbottles had an amazing game in goals keeping Tatiara honest with their shots and was holding them out, all until Olivia Williams put on a scoring masterclass slotting 3 more from various positions in the “D”, including a sliding deflection from her guts.
A good game on a cold night to set up a fantastic clash for the first round of finals next week.

Tatiara vs Greenbottles – Men
It was a strong start for both teams, pressing to the top of their circles. Solid defensive moves avoiding dangerous circle penetrations on either side of the field.
Cameron Taylor (Greenbottles) broke Tatiara’s defensive wall with a dangerous tomahawk shot from the top left side of the circle, which was shut down in close quarters by Jonah Williams and Karl Dahlitz.
Hamish Verco (Tatiara) responded with a solo run through the middle of the field finishing with a sweeping cross goal pass. Alas there was no-one on the spot to finish it off.
Greenbottles wasted no time, with Cameron and Alex carrying the ball right up to their attacking circle, finishing off with a pass and a shot, defended superbly by Jake Rohrlach in goals, ultimately giving the first short corner of the match from a wayward foot. This started a run of 4 short corners for Greenbottles, no goal scored but the Greens managed to keep strong possession for the rest of the quarter.
Intensity did not drop in the second quarter, with Tatiara’s defence and midfield under significant pressure. A quick break for Tatiara saw Greenbottles leave Will Kropp (Tatiara) open and unmanned in the circle. A timely pass to the post and Kroppy pounced; scoring the first goal of the match. Greenbottles did not leave Kroppy open for the rest of the game.
The quarter continued in slippery fashion; the earlier rain left Greenbottles slipping around, struggling to keep their footing as they kept putting pressure on Tatiara.
The third quarter continues the pressure on Tatiara, with goalie Jake Rorhlach keeping composure and defenders clearing well from the circle.
Deep into the quarter, Nathan Pietsch (Tatiara) taking a run into the circle for Tatiara’s first dangerous goal attempt since Kroppy’s goal. Tatiara’s characteristic second half drive was lacking as they struggled to maintain possession against the Green’s intensity.
Late in the third, Tatiara win their first short corner, leading to a second. Jonah William’s reliable drag flick being deflected.
Greenbottles retaliate with a contested ball in their circle, breaking down Tatiara’s defence for Gabe Cox to come away with their first goal, mere seconds from the whistle.
Early in the fourth quarter, Connor Williams (Tatiara) intercepts and delivers a dangerous ball in to Danny Verrall who wins a short corner. This one works out, with Danny injecting to Jonah who does a dummy drag flick motion, changing at the last moment to send a hard and fast pass back to the injector, Danny getting his stick on it for a perfectly timed hit onto the backboard.
Tatiara take the lead once more. This goal seemed to act as a catalyst for their intensity, Tatiara finally shake out the cobwebs and put consistent pressure on Greenbottles; the competition evened out and neither team eased up.
Full time whistle blows with both teams having maintained composure and strength. A tough game for Greenbottles to concede, and an honourable mention to Tatiara’s defenders for keeping countless Greenbottles shots out of the goal.
