Round 3 – Season 2023
Young players showed off their goal scoring skills in the third round of the season.
Under 9 – Dartmoor vs Greenbottles
An excited Dartmoor Under 9 team took to the field against Greenbottles. Both teams worked on their passing, dribbling and stopping the ball throughout the game.
There were some great breaks from Greenbottles which gave Dartmoor lots of practice at defending. Bri and Monique made a few good breaks for Dartmoor.
It was wonderful to see so many happy smiling faces so early in the morning.
Dartmoor vs Redlegs – Under 13
The game started with a quick attack from the Dartmoor forwards.
Eddie Dolphin weaved the ball through the Redlegs defence to score Dartmoor’s first goal. Not long after, Mason White scored Dartmoor’s 2nd goal. Mason White was on fire and worked the ball down to Jim Hansford who popped it into the goals.
Redlegs fullbacks never gave up and continued to make Dartmoor work hard for their goals. Nate Haynes put some pressure on the Dartmoor goalie and earnt a penalty corner. Bree Ellis in goals for Dartmoor kept her cool and got the ball back out to Dartmoor.
Ben Durik was also making it hard for Redlegs to break through to Dartmoor’s circle. Jacob Lewis and Eddie Dolphin both got goals leaving the score 5-0 at half time.
Dartmoor started off the second half very strong with Nate Harris getting a goal. Dartmoor’s Joe McLean worked well through the middle as did Grace Law for Redlegs. Kendra Lewis was also great in Dartmoor helping push the ball through Redlegs defence.
Dartmoor’s attack was just too strong and they slotted in another few goals through Mason, Nate and Eddie. Redlegs’ break through came when Seth Gale was able to get through Dartmoor’s defence and score their first goal.
Redlegs confidence soared and suddenly they had made another break only to be foiled by Eddie Dolphin and his speedy legs.
Violet, George and Ollie played well for Redlegs and continued to put pressure on Dartmoor. Redlegs should be commended for their grit throughout the game.

Dartmoor vs Redlegs – Under 16
What a game from Redlegs and Dartmoor. Both teams put up a fight for that win.
In the first quarter Chloe Nancarrow, Redlegs goalie, was blocking shots left right and centre. Dartmoor really had to work as a team to score that first goal. But that first goal was an absolutely lovely pass into a deflection that raised above the goalies head.
The second quarter brought a few more goals to the score board with Grace Gale, Jesse Lewis and Lochie Dolphin making great goals.
In the third quarter Redlegs made a beautiful pass to Seth Gale who ran it down into the Dartmoor defensive circle and was so close to getting a goal, but quick thinking from Lochie Dolphin had it out of Dartmoor’s circle soon enough.
Continuing from that, Chloe Nancarrow made some really tricky saves only letting a few more goals through by Jesse Lewis and Grace Gale. Many more would have gotten through if it weren’t for the defensive skills of Faith Bartolo.
The final quarter brought a lot of excitement to the game with Redlegs making good breakthroughs but unfortunately no goals. Redlegs goalie stopped a super tricky shot with her glove.
The fourth quarter ended up with goals from Mason White, Jim Hansford, Grace Gale and Maggie McLean. Although at the end of the game the score was 14-0 Redlegs really put up a fight and a lot of effort into that game.

Dartmoor vs Redlegs – Women
The rain cleared and the sun came out for the women’s match between Dartmoor and Redlegs, with an even start to the game.
Dartmoor worked hard keeping the ball in their attack in the first half, with Jane Agnew and Kelly Gale having multiple advances into the circle but being denied by Redlegs’ awesome defence.
Chloe Nancarrow was kept very busy with many amazing deflections on many short corners and goal shots. Defenders Amelie Nancarrow and Sarah Anderson were very busy as well making many wide clearances with the ball.
The second half was just as warm as the first causing Redlegs to start to tire, letting through a few goals in the third quarter but having more drives into their midfield and forward lines, with great passing and positioning between Amanda Davey and Hunter Adams.
The higher forwards in Margot Vilde and Bella assisted with these drives causing more pressure for Cathy Loder and Tash Moore.
The last quarter had a few more goals for Dartmoor, scored by Sam Reekie and Sarah Hamilton, with amazing saves by Chloe and her Redlegs defence. The game was overall respectful and enjoyable being tough for both sides sticking it out until the end.

Dartmoor vs Redlegs – Men
The game between Dartmoor and Redlegs men on Saturday afternoon was an exciting one to watch as the result came down to the wire with Dartmoor just coming home 2 goals to 1.
The game started with lots of attacking play from Dartmoor who saw a few shots and 1 goal scored from Jack as he came along the base line.
For the most part, the Redlegs defence held firm and defused most attacks, even seeing some good opportunities of their own. This play saw them wrest back some control and convert a great shot from the top of the circle through Jaali Brennan in the 2nd quarter.
From there it was an arm wrestle and it wasn’t until the 4th that we saw the next score, a goal by Dartmoor’s Jack Thomson off a penalty corner. Darts were then able to keep out Redlegs for the remaining time, seeing them win 2-1
