Greenbottles vs Redlegs- Women
On a lovely sunny day, perhaps too hot for a winter sport Redlegs and Greenbottles women fought out a close game.
Redlegs converted a chance through a magnificent run the full length of the pitch by Amelie Nancarrow following a Greenbottles short corner break down that found their defence wanting.
Greenbottles started better in the second quarter and converted a goal shot after a skilful run by Tillie Derrington down the right hand side of the turf.
In the second half there was lots of tussle in the centre of the pitch, with Redlegs linking fantastic penetrating passes through Hunter Adams and Amanda Davey exposing Greenbottles defence a few times. Aimee Mastrangelo made several key saves to keep Greenbottles in the game.
After a quick switch of play, Jada Copping passed a lovely long ball through the centre of the field to find Anna Young who slotted it in to give Greenbottles the lead.
Tori Ghezzi had plenty of play in front of goal but Greenbottles Abby Waugh showed plenty of grit in defence meaning she was unlucky not to score.
